Even though we might try to prevent it – the count down to Christmas
started weeks ago and in just a short space of time we’ll be tucking into our Turkey and
pulling the Christmas Crackers. This
time of year, however, can be a nightmare to some people – to this countries
thousands of Slimmers. With festive
fodder filling up every aisle in every shop the pressure to lose weight under
these circumstances can sometimes be too much to bear. Many Slimmers give up for the holidays,
there’s just too much going on, but then regret their decision in the cold
light of the January scales. Remember,
even though we’ve been preparing for months, Christmas itself lasts just a
couple of days and you still have to be able to enjoy yourself, life is too
short not to. Take the pressure off,
it’s your lifestyle and your choice – have you ever thought about choosing not
to gain weight rather than to lose it, you might be surprised at the results! Take it one day at a time, meal by meal - by
enjoying Christmas Day and Boxing Day, eating sensibly, but having a little of
what you fancy, you won’t feel deprived, making it a lot easier to get right
back on track afterwards. Temptation is
on every shelf in every form, chocolates, alcohol, cheese, cake (sorry) to name
but a few, unfortunately you can’t do anything about that, but what you can do
is take steps to protect yourselves.
Wrap the children’s selection boxes as soon as you’ve bought them, or
ask a relative to get them one instead.
Leave buying the alcohol until Christmas Eve. Do your Christmas shopping on-line and book
the last possible delivery slot before Christmas or even better – invite
yourself round to family so you don’t have to do the cooking – you might have
to offer to do the washing up though! By
taking just a few moments to rethink your Christmas eating habits you can make
a difference. By making a choice you’re
going to be in control, and there is nothing more powerful than the pride you
will feel with yourself when you haven’t given in to temptation and you feel
fabulous for Father Christmas.
